Final Solutions: Text and Criticism

This volume carries not only the complete and unabridged text of Mahesh Dattani’s Final Solutions but also a close critical study of its defining characteristics. These include the play’s themes and concerns, characters and structure, motifs and techniques, and other literary tropes and stage props. In equal measure does this study revaluate Dattani’s use of the now globally legitimated Indian English, his construction of the contemporary urban middle class India, his contribution to the enrichment and spread of Indian English drama, and related issues. The critical enquiry in this book is perceptive and lucid throughout, useful alike to students and teachers of Dattani’s oeuvre.
